Hazel Miller Foundation awards $35K for Edmonds 4th of July Celebration

edmonds4thThe Edmonds-based Hazel Miller Foundation has awarded the Edmonds Chamber Foundation a $35,000 grant to provide ongoing support of the “An Edmonds Kind of 4th” celebration, including the annual Fourth of July parade and fireworks.

Annually, the non-profit Edmonds Chamber Foundation presents the event managed by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.

“The Edmonds 4th of July celebration is unique in how it brings together Edmonds residents, families from surrounding communities and visitors from the U.S. and Canada.” said Edmonds Chamber Foundation member Carl Zapora. “The Edmonds Chamber and Chamber Foundation are grateful to the Hazel Miller Foundation for providing this extremely generous grant to ensure An Edmonds Kind of 4th continues for many years!”

As part of the “Annual Giving” program, the Hazel Miller Foundation will continue as a long-term partner of An Edmonds Kind of 4th, serving as the title sponsor for the day’s activities.

Hazel Miller and her husband, Morris, were long-time Edmonds residents with a love of Edmonds. The Hazel Miller Foundation grant first awarded in 2012 earmarked funds for the Edmonds 4th of July celebration in order to provide financial support for the day-long Fourth of July celebration.

“An Edmonds Kind of 4th” features the Beat Brackett 5K, Children’s Parade, Main Parade and evening entertainment and fireworks that draw over 25,000 spectators.

“We hope that the generous support of the Hazel Miller Foundation serves to encourage the residents of Edmonds to help support this annual tradition in our community.” said Greg Urban, President & CEO of the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
