Soroptimist of Sno-King is hosting its Annual Celebration of Women, featuring award presentations and guest speaker Jan Steves of Edmonds, Saturday, April 2 at the Nile Shrine Center in Mountlake Terrace.

Born and raised in Edmonds, Steves graduated from Edmonds High School in 1974. She will talk about her passion for mushing and her competition in the annual Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska.

Two days into this year’s Iditarod, Steves — who has been competing in the race since 2009 — was taken out of the race after being injured when her sled toppled over.

The brunch will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and features a buffet brunch, awards program, shopping and a Dessert Dash. Cost is $30 per person or $225 for a table of eight. The Nile Shrine Center is at 6601 224th St. S.W., Mountlake Terrace.
