The City of Edmonds Arts Commission invites the public to view a selection of Edmonds artist Kim Brayman’s work at the Edmonds Library now through April 30, and Leon White’s “My Love of Birds” joint exhibit with Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Gallery in the Frances Anderson Center through April 26.

Brayman is an Edmonds teaching artist with a degree in art education. She delights in the botanical and organic shape. Most of her painted surfaces are highly textured mixed media, exploring the interaction between texture, color, shape and line to create mood and convey a theme with her subjects. The show at the library highlights the scope of her themes and subjects.

Brayman’s works have been in several juried exhibitions, including the Edmonds and Shoreline Art Festivals, Evergreen Assoc. of Fine Arts in Bellevue, and the Hanson Scott Gallery in Seattle. The city of Shoreline and the Swedish Cancer Center in Edmonds feature her work in their permanent collections.

She taught art for nine years at Edmonds Maplewood K-8. She currently teaches drawing and beginning acrylics to adults at the Cole Gallery in Edmonds and kid’s camps at the Schack Art Center in Everett, as well as for the Edmonds School District via grants for visual arts in the schools.

Brayman’s artwork will be on display at the library through April 30th. Edmonds Library hours are Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. For more information about the artist, go to www.kimbraymanart.com.
