One of the three finalists to fill the position of Edmonds School District Superintendent has taken another job, so the district will hold final interviews with the remaining two candidates later this week.

Deb Clemens withdrew her application for Edmonds superintendent after the North Thurston School Board voted unanimously Saturday morning to offer her the job, Edmonds School Board President Susan Phillips said in an email.

“We wish Dr. Clemens all the best in her new position,” Phillips said. “Our two remaining finalists will visit the District and attend a Community Public Forum this week.”

Arlington Public Schools Superintendent Kris McDuffy will visit the district on Monday, March 28 while Chrys Sweeting, assistant superintendent for the Puyallup School District, will visit Tuesday, March 29.

The district will hold a community forum this Thursday, March 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School Theater with each finalist meeting with the community one at a time. Attending members of the public will be able to give feedback to school board members during the forum.

Edmonds School District’s current superintendent, Nick Brossoit, announced in December he would be retiring following 12 years of leading the district.
