The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8870 in Edmonds has announced a fundraising effort to support construction of the Edmonds Veterans Plaza. The post is raffling two original Seattle Seahawks posters drawn by Post member and Fallen Heroes Project founder Michael Reagan.
The Edmonds Veterans Plaza Fund Raising Committee is approximately $20,000 short of the plaza’s $420,000 construction cost. The hope is to achieve the fundraising goal by early summer to ensure project completion prior to the planned dedication of the Veterans Plaza on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016.
The first-place prize is an original framed drawing of current and former players and coaches of the Seattle Seahawks, all of whom have signed the original work of art. Second-place prize is a similar but smaller and unframed Seahawks poster.
The raffle drawing will be conducted on July 4, 2016, following the annual Edmonds parade. Winners need not be present. A donation of $5 per ticket can be made by mailing your check (payable to VFW Post 8870) to: VFW Post 8870, P.O. Box 701, Edmonds, WA 98020. Be sure to include your name and address, and include the word “Raffle” on the memo line of your check. Your raffle ticket(s) will be mailed to you.
The proposed Edmonds Veterans Plaza project was approved by the Edmonds City Council a year ago, and a firm has completed its work to design the plaza, which honors each of the five branches of the military services.
Mr. Reagan- Your continued support and nurturing of all veterans needs through your incredible work is greatly appreciated. Semper fi.
