Looking for an amazing theater experience? On Friday, May 6, The Generations Project will take the stage at Edmonds Woodway High School (EWHS) to portray stories about seniors from the Edmonds Senior Center. The actors are EWHS students who collaborated with the seniors to write and act out their true life stories. Daniel Johnson of the senior center is working on the project and provided this preview:

“The Generations Project is the brainchild of Edmonds resident Jack Faris. This is a joint project between the senior center and high school drama department under the direction of leader Bruce Mindt. There are 13 high school students and four seniors participating. We have been meeting every two weeks for more than five months.

“The project has been driven by the students and facilitated by Bruce Mindt. The first few meetings were getting to know each other and sharing stories. Next the group settled on the stories of the seniors that the students would portray. Scripts were written and rehearsed, and friendships were formed. It has been gratifying to see this project come together where the students and seniors have participated as equal partners in the process.”

For a preview, see this video about the project.

The performance starts at 7 p.m. and is free. The show will be approximately 30 minutes long followed by a “talk back” where the audience can ask questions of both the students and the seniors about the experience. The EWHS theater is located on the school campus at 7600 212th St. S.W. in Edmonds.

  1. What a fabulous idea and experience for ALL involved!
I’d love to see this program continue.
