Mike McAuliffe notes that he was barbecuing hot dogs in the Maplewood neighborhood Tuesday evening when he encountered “some unexpected visitors—a mother duck with six babies! I don’t know how they got into my fenced back yard since the babies can’t fly yet, and I had to open the gate for them to get out. I snapped a family portrait as they made their escape.”
