The Rotary Club of Lynnwood hosted the 24th Annual Youth Challenge Awards at the Lynnwood High School Royal Act Theater on Thursday night.

The event recognizes students in grades 7-12 for their achievements in five categories: Leadership/Inspiration, Creativity, Community Service, Courage and a group award for a group contributing to and engaging with their community. Two award winners this year attend Edmonds-Woodway High School: Mikayla Monroe, who won the Creativity Award, and Bintou Bandeh, who won the Courage Award.

An additional award and $5,000 grand prize was also awarded. This year, the scholarship went to Arlington High School senior Grace Meno for her courage following a traumatic brain injury. Meno remains active in several clubs and sports alongside her service dog, Blazer, who alerts her oncoming seizures, retrieves her medication and can call 9-1-1.
