With perfect weather, the 2016 Edmonds Art Festival opened at 10 am Friday morning to an intrepid group of early birds. (Photos by Larry Vogel)
The Arts Fest attracts artists from across the spectrum. Here musician Bob Culbertson performs on the Chapman Stick, a stringed instrument invented in 1974 by Emmett Chapman. Culbertson, who is selling his CD's at the Arts Fest, has been called the "Segovia of the Chapman Stick," and has performed worldwide.
One-of-a-kind outdoor furniture includes this Adirondack Chair with the UW Husky logo carved into the back.
Volunteers staff several information booths throughout the festival, ready to help direct visitors to exactly what they're trying to find.
The Madrona K-8 Orchestra under the direction of Vickie Nelson kicked off the performances at the Frances Anderson Amphitheater. The amphitheater will offer continuous music and performing arts throughout the weekend, and is the perfect place to take a break from browsing the art.
And it's not just the booths in Frances Anderson field! Be sure not to miss the great art displayed in the juried rooms inside the Frances Anderson Center. All is original art by local and regional artists, and every piece is for sale. Winning pieces are identified with tags and ribbons.
Maggie and Audrey Miller, both students at Edmonds Montessori, create their own sculptures in the childrens' activity area.
