The Edmonds-South Snohomish County Historical Society has received a $4,507 grant award from the 2016 Community Heritage Grant Program to assist with preserving and storing collections at the Edmonds Historical Museum.

The grant program, sponsored by the Snohomish County Historic Preservation Commission, provided matching funds awards to seven county organizations. Money is awarded from recording fees collected by the Snohomish County Auditor.

“As a small, local history museum we preserve artifacts, documents and photographs, which tell the story of our community,” said Edmonds Museum Executive Director Katie Kelly. “Receiving this generous grant has allowed us to purchase much needed additional storage shelving and conservation supplies that will enable us to preserve these precious items for years to come. The shelving will have a specifically designed unit that will vertically store oversized artwork and photographs.”

The shelving will be supplied by Kent-based Applied Handling NW.
