The Washington Association of School Administrators has recognized Edmonds School District staff and community members for their dedication to students and the community.

Assistant Superintendents Patrick Murphy and Justin Irish each received the Student Leadership Award, for their work at the elementary and secondary levels to provide equitable access to education, improve graduation rates and guide school principals in their work.

Rev. Dick Gibson, Stacie Hearst, Darrol Haug, Mark Mahnkey and Ron Wambolt received community leadership awards. They are regular attendees of the Superintendent’s Roundtable meetings and offer valuable feedback on district initiatives and issues. In addition, they act as ambassadors, providing factual information and gathering input in the community.

  1. Congrats to Dick Gibson and Ron Wambolt, whom we have come to know as truly community minded and supportive folks. And, we believe we heard that Shirley is now home, which is probably why Ron didn’t make the photo. Bob & Marge White

  2. Thank you Bob & Marg. After spending 3 1/2 months in the hospital, Shirley is now at Aldercrest Rehab. And yes, I was unable to attend this event because of the need to be with Shirley.

  3. Mr. Wambolt,

So sorry to hear that Shirley was hospitalized. As we spend time out of Washington State, we didn’t know.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

We hope that Shirley has a successful recuperation.

    Sincerely,
    Barbara and Jim Tipton

  4. Mr. Wambolt,

Very sorry to hear the news. All the best to Mrs. Wambolt, you, and the family during this time.
