Updated: Police say Edmonds City Park fire now an arson investigation

Updated with confirmation of arson investigation.

Edmonds police said Wednesday afternoon that they are now investigating the early-morning fire at Edmonds City Park as an arson.

“We are requesting anyone with information about the crime, or who may have been in the area around 1:30 a.m. on June 8, to contact the Edmonds Police Department,” Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley said.

The fire destroyed a storage building and flatbed truck in the Edmonds Parks Department maintenance area at City Park. The storage building and its contents — paper products, light bulbs and other supplies used in City of Edmonds facilities — appears to be a total loss.
