Updated at 10:30 p.m. Thursday with additional details.

The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new events and marketing manager.

Sandra Williams, who has served in that role since January 2015, said she submitted her resignation Wednesday, July 13, and had given 30 days notice, intending to stay until after the Chamber’s signature Taste of Edmonds event was completed. But when she arrived at work Thursday, she was told “that 30 days would be unnecessary and to just leave now, with two weeks pay.”

Several Edmonds chamber members who had been with Williams at a chamber event Wednesday night, told My Edmonds News that she had expressed excitement about working at the Taste of Edmonds, and they were surprised to learn via a Chamber announcement to members Thursday that she had resigned. The announcement, from Chamber President and CEO Greg Urban, said, in part:

I am writing to inform you of a staffing change at the Edmonds Chamber. Sandra Williams unexpectedly tendered her resignation and is no longer the Membership & Events Manager. We wish Sandra all the best in her future endeavors and are thankful for the hard work she did for our members over the last year and a half.

The search for a replacement is now underway.

Williams said she doesn’t have another job lined up yet, and “will see what life brings next.”

Edmonds Chamber President and CEO Greg Urban declined to comment further on the situation because it is a personnel matter. But he said the chamber hopes to have a new membership and events manager in place before the Taste.

  1. I wish Sandra well with her future prospects. She was always supportive of the Edmonds community. Although not part of her job, she volunteered with Edmonds Daybreakers Rotary projects such as the Easter Egg Hunt and the Jazz Connection on her own time. She was always positive and enthusiastic. She will be missed.

  2. It would be nice to hear what Ms Williams has to say. The chamber can’t seem to keep staff for very long these days. In my experience, that usually indicates a systemic problem at the top level. Either with hiring the wrong people or being very poor at managing them.
