It was all smiles and high-fives as the delegation from Hekinan, Japan arrived at Edmonds City Hall to kick off two weeks of tours, shopping, sight-seeing and educational activities.
Sister cities since 1988, Edmonds and Hekinan have kept up a lively social and cultural exchange for more than 25 years. This year’s delegation comprises 10 students and two chaperones who will reside with host families during their stay.
The delegation will be in town through Aug. 16, and while a full schedule of activities is planned, they’ll have ample free time to explore Edmonds. So when you see them on the street, take a moment to smile, wave, and say a friendly “konichiwa!”
