Reminder: Kids in Transition packing party Aug. 23

Screenshot (641)Volunteers with Washington Kids in Transition invite members of the community to join in a community packing party to benefit local homeless students.

At the end of the 2015-2016 school year, the Edmonds School District had 624 homeless students. During the packing party, volunteers will load up bags of food to be distributed to the McKinney-Vento after-school bus program.

The party begins at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 23 on the lower level of Edmonds Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St. Washington Kids in Transition will provide a pizza dinner for volunteers, but volunteers are asked to bring some food items. The items most in need are:

  • Granola bars (no peanuts please!)
  • Crackers and cheese
  • Fruit squeeze pouches (The pouches are easier to pack)
  • Beef sticks
  • Tuna or chicken packs
  • Individual cereal packs
  • Shelf-stable milk
