2017 budget presentations, Shoreline Master Program at Oct. 18 council meeting

city-of-edmonds-logoThe proposed 2017 City of Edmonds budget will be a major focus for the Edmonds City Council, starting with its Tuesday, Oct. 18 meeting.

The council is also scheduled to review — and possibly taken action on — a draft letter prepared by staff to respond to State Department of Ecology-requested changes to its Shoreline Master program.

Each week through Nov. 1, city staff will be making budget presentations, by department, to the council outlining their 2017 budget requests. The Oct. 18 meeting will focus on Public Works, including utilities, streets, public works administration, facilities  maintenance, equipment rental and engineering.

The schedule for the remaining presentations includes:

Oct. 25: Economic Development, Development Services, Parks, Human Resources, City Attorney and Municipal Court.

Nov. 1: Police Department, City Clerk, Mayor’s Office, Council, Finance & Information Services and Non-departmental.

On Monday, Nov. 7 (meeting a day earlier due to election day), the council will discuss revenue sources and take public comment. On Nov. 15, there will be a public hearing.

– A presentation by the Diversity Commission.

– The 2016 annual report from the Hearing Examiner.

– Discussion of an amendment to Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office Salmon Project and a supplemental Agreement with Shannon & Wilson for the Willow Creek Daylighting Project.

– A report on 2016 park impact fees.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Public Safety Complex, 250 5th Ave. N. You can see the complete agenda here.
