If the concept of growing groceries appeals to you or is part of your life already, the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club is sponsoring a workshop Saturday, Oct. 8 that may be of interest.
Kate Ryan, Agriculture Program Coordinator with Washington State University County Extension Agency, is manager of the “Growing Groceries’ Program,” which offers educational training and certification for those interested in becoming garden mentors.
On Oct. 8, Ryan will present a “Growing Groceries” overview, discuss growing food in small spaces and current trends in food production. This informational workshop runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Edmonds’ Coldwell Banker Bain meeting room, 108 5th Ave. S., Edmonds.
Everyone is welcome. The workshop is free, although donations are encouraged to benefit Snohomish County “Growing Groceries.”
The Edmonds Floretum Garden Club runs an array of local events that foster community-building including sponsoring gardening workshops and seminars, and providing scholarships for horticulture students.
