Prep girls soccer: Lynnwood, E-W lose, face each other Nov. 1

The Lynnwood Royals and Edmonds-Woodway Warriors both suffered defeats Saturday in the District 1 3A Girls Soccer Tournament and now must face each other in a tourney loser-out match on Tuesday, Nov. 1.
On Saturday, the Royals succumbed to the 3A Wesco League regular season champion Arlington Eagles 4-1 Saturday at Arlington High School. Nikki Leishman scored the lone goal for Lynnwood in the loss.

The Warriors fell to perennial-power Shorecrest Scots 2-1 in an overtime shootout Saturday at Edmonds Stadium. The two teams were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and added time before the Scots prevailed in the shootout.

Edmonds-Woodway defeated Lynnwood 2-0 in a Wesco League regular season matchup back on Sept. 29, but Tuesday’s match between the two teams will have much bigger implications. The winner will continue on in district tournament play while the loser will be finished for the 2016 season.
