Edmonds Community College’s 50^th birthday is being marked with a year of events, including a festive gala coming April 2017 at the Future of Flight. In preparation, Edmonds Community College Foundation is seeking volunteer table captains for the gala. To find out what it takes to be a party table captain, volunteer Jean Pennington provided this note:

“I enjoy helping people and have my whole life. My husband, Steve Pennington, has been on the Edmonds Community College Foundation board for seventeen years, and we attend the fundraising galas every year. I became very partial to the college and several people involved with it. The college not only educates people but also cares for them. The scholarships are only a part of what the galas help the students with.

“The funds raised help students in emergencies such as transportation, housing, and monetary difficulties.

“I joined the gala committee several years ago, and enjoy inviting friends to the galas and sharing the experiences we have had through the years. Each year, I realize even more what the college has done for so many. The galas are much more than delicious food and the auction. They are always a lot of fun, not only at the time but also knowing that each dollar that is spent will be helping the students in so many ways.

“This year’s gala will be even more special because it will be the college’s fiftieth celebration. Not only that, but it will be held at the Future of Flight Museum. What a spectacular venue! The future of Edmonds Community College at the Future of Flight, and away we go!

“Each person can help with attending the galas, attending events at the college, and making donations to help the future of the college and the students. The young people are our future.”
