Edmonds Museum to celebrate holidays with antique toy exhibit and Clothes For Kids

The Edmonds Historical Museum puts on a festive holiday air this week, and it’s all about toys and warm winter clothes.

The new exhibit “Once upon a Toy” opens this weekend, featuring toys that might have appeared under holiday trees of the last century. Adults may just see that favorite toy from childhood, and younger folks will get to see what lit up the eyes of their parents and grandparents in holiday seasons past.

And to add extra warmth to the season for local kids in need, this year the museum has partnered with Clothes for Kids. Beginning on Saturday, Nov. 19, the museum will be accepting your donations of clothing and apparel to brighten the holidays for children of local families in need. New, packaged warm socks and underwear are particularly needed.

And don’t forget to mark your calendars for Nov. 26, the date of this year’s Edmonds Municipal Tree Lighting celebration. In additional to the traditional caroling, popcorn and hot apple cider, the museum will stay open till 6 p.m., so it’s a great time to stop in, check out the antique toys, and drop off your Clothes for Kids donations, no gift wrap necessary.

The museum will be open Wednesday through Sunday afternoons throughout the holidays, so be sure to visit. And when you do, don’t forget to bring your clothing donation to help make this year’s holidays special for a kid who might otherwise do without.
