Holy Rosary 7th grade girls earn CYO soccer co-championship

The 7th grade girls soccer team at Holy Rosary School earned a co-championship in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) 7th Grade Girls’ Soccer Championship game Nov. 5 at Seattle’s Blanchet High School. Holy Rosary Edmonds played St. Joseph’s School of Seattle and the game went into overtime, ending in a 1-1 tie. As a result, the two schools were declared co-champions.

The local CYO league consists of 15 teams around the area. Holy Rosary team members are Katie Colston, Danawit Gebreyesus, Marianna Basco, Nora Conaty, Taralyn Rickels, Haley Blair, Kara Ovenell, Kate Schimpf, Claire Madath, Elizabeth Yockey, Maia Seeley, Taylor O’Brien, Ava Rees, Ruby Fox, Mary Rose Johnson and Taylor Campbell.
