A 6-year-old Edmonds boy left home alone to answer the door for trick-or-treaters on Halloween prompted an Edmonds man to call police to check on the boy’s welfare.
According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, the boy told police that his mother was upset with him for getting in trouble at school, so made him stay home alone while she took his sister out trick or treating.
A man who brought his children to the boy’s door in the 7800 block of 193rd Place Southwest at 6:45 p.m. Monday noticed the youngster was upset and called police after hearing his story.
Police declined to file charges in the case but did refer the incident to Child Protective Services for followup, Hawley said.
Whatever was that mother thinking (or not).
