The Sound Steppers Volkssport Club is sponsoring a “Turkey Trot” the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, with all proceeds benefiting the Edmonds Food Bank.

The walk begins and ends at Edmonds United Methodist Church, 828 Caspers St. The cost is $3 for Volksporter members. New walkers may walk for free, and the group is also encouraging people to bring a donation we will pass onto the Edmonds Food Bank.

The start time is between 9 a.m. and noon, with a finish time of 3 p.m., said organizer Chris Frizzell. Walkers have a choice of two distances: a 10K (6.2 miles) or 5K (3.1) miles.

Sound Steppers Volkssport Club is an organization that promotes non-competitive volkssports such as walking, bicycling, swimming, cross country skiing, skating, snowshoeing that have no specified time limits or “winners.” Walking events (volkswalks) are the most popular.
