Third-grade students can receive free swim lessons at MLT Rec Center

Screenshot (203)Third-grade students who either reside or attend school in the Edmonds School District have the opportunity to have free swim lessons at the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion thanks to a grant from the Verdant Health Commission.

Vouchers were sent to the schools on Oct. 26 for distribution to the students. This swim lesson program is preparing to get underway at the Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion. Students are currently registering for the last weekday session of this year, which includes Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday lessons.

The next registration for all days will be Dec. 21 (if you live in Mountlake Terrace) and 22 (open registration for residents outside Mountlake Terrace) for the first sessions of 2017 swimming lessons. Vouchers must be redeemed in person–no online option is currently available.

The voucher program was the result of a collaborative proposal submitted by the cities of Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds and Lynnwood. This is the fifth year of the program, which continues to be funded by a Verdant Health Commission grant.

More information about the third-grade swim program is available by calling the Recreation Pavilion at 425-776-9173 or visit for the swim lesson program and schedule.
