Cookie Brigade prepares sweet treats for local seniors

An annual tradition continued last weekend as the Cookie Brigade bagged holiday cookies for distribution to home-bound seniors through Senior Services of Snohomish County.

The 1,745 cookies, which were baked by volunteers then bagged at the Edmonds home of Maggie Peterson, will be delivered through the Meals on Wheels program to 142 home-bound seniors ages 60 and older in Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace. The cookies will be part of the meals that the seniors receive just before Christmas.

Volunteers included Carol Kinney, Lynn Donovan, Maggie Peterson, Carol Solberg, Yolanda Longoria, Kathy Hashbarger, Shirley Vicklund, Charlotte Canning, Tami Burling
and Lynne Garton.

  1. Such a rewarding effort. Since we all love to bake at this time of year, yet don’t need to consume it all, we channel our efforts into baking for less privileged seniors. This was our 6th Annual Cookie Brigade. Following all the do’s and don’ts as provided to us by Martha Peppones of Senior Services of Snohomish County, baking and getting together for a tea and packaging party, surely gets us all into the spirit of the season. We can surely add new volunteers to the ranks. If you’d be interested in joining us next year, please feel free to email me at
