Missy Peterson’s 13 points led Edmonds-Woodway to a Wesco Conference-opening 59-46 victory over cross-town rival Meadowdale Saturday night on the Mavs’ home court.
The Warriors trailed 13-10 after the first quarter, but exploded in the second, scoring 23 points and nearly matching the Mavericks’ first-half total of 24 points. Marivel Ortega, Ingrid Fosberg and Adrienne Poling each had 10 for Edmonds-Woodway.
Peterson scored 3 three-point goals in the win for the Warriors (4-1, 1-0)), and also added five assists.
The Mavericks (1-4, 0-1) were led by Catherine Do and Lilly Williams, who each contributed 13 points.
Coming off a 52-42 win at home against King’s, the Warriors’ victory was their third in a row. They hope to keep their winning streak rolling when they face Marysville-Pilchuck Wednesday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.
