Expect strong winds, rain Friday as storm passes through

Our online news partner The Seattle Times says that a storm passing through Western Washington will bring strong winds and rain to the coast and the Puget Sound region Friday, with gusts up to 60 mph.

The wind is expected to pick up by midday, and by the afternoon in Seattle sustained wind speeds of 20 to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Damp soil and strong winds, combined with new leaves emerging, means that some trees could topple during this storm, said meteorologist Dustin Guy.
