Genevieve Theodora Brenny

Genevieve Theodora Brenny, born June 17, 1927 in Rolla North Dakota to father Spero Manson and mother Florence Manson (both deceased), died peacefully Aug. 4, 2017.

One of 11 children; brothers John, twins Frank and George, Pete, Spero, Raymond, Paul and Robert; sisters Grace and Gertrude.

Following graduation from Rolla ND High School she moved to Seattle where she met her husband, James E Brenny, at a dance hall. They were married June 17, 1952.

Gene worked in retail, bakeries with her brother Pete and Mannings Deli and Bakery, data entry at WITS Air Freight and Kelly Girl. She also sung in the Seattle Opera for about 20 years. After her husband passed in 1973 she worked for the State of Washington Employment Security, where she worked for 16 years and retired at 62 in 1989.

She enjoyed Costco’s rotisserie and homemade fried chicken. She liked singing in church, opera, recitals, even a TV talent show. She enjoyed a variety of music from classical to country western. Gene also loved going for walks when she was able, going to the casino and playing scratch tickets, being outside tending her garden and flowers, watching the squirrels and birds, attending and putting on garage sales with family, always “merchandising”, going to the theatre and occasionally watching the Mariners and Seahawks games with her daughter.

Genevieve is survived by her brother Paul; 3 adult children: Jim, Janet, and Jeff; 6 grandchildren: Shannon, Heather, Alissa, Ross, Thomas, and Kyle; and 2 great grandchildren Anthony and Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
