Former Vietnam War prisoner to speak at Edmonds POW-MIA Day event Sept. 15

Former Air Force Major Joe Crecca, a Vietnam veteran who spent six-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam, will be the guest speaker at a POW/MIA Day observance at Edmonds Veterans Plaza Friday Sept. 15.

You can learn more about Crecca, who now lives in North Bend, Wash., in the oral history video above.

The Sept. 15 program, sponsored by VFW Post 8870/American Legion Post 66, is designed to honoring all those who were prisoners of war and missing in action.

The observance begins at 6:30 p.m. at Edmonds Veterans Plaza, adjacent to the Edmonds Public Safety building at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Bell Street in downtown Edmonds.

  1. Another very worthwhile program in direct conflict with the keynote speaker for Puget Sound Bird Fest (an Edmonds Parks and Recreation program). When will Edmonds set up a master events calendar?!

(I am a Vietnam vet with 154 combat support missions flying out of Danang.)

    1. Thank you, Ken, for your very impressive service. I have respect for all military personnel – particularly those who served in Vietnam. When I was hiring people I always gave preference to Vietnam veterans.
