Edmonds-Woodway High School’s wresting program had four finalists and two champions in the Graham Morin Memorial Tournament at Squalicum High School Saturday, Dec. 16. A total of nine Warriors placed in the tournament.
Winning championships for the Warriors were Grayson LeCompte at 132 lbs and Salihou Fatty at 145 lbs. Advancing to the finals and finishing second were Baylor Denkinger at 106 lbs and Generous Yeh at 220 lbs.
Other placers for Edmonds-Woodway were 120 – Ousman Fatty 3rd, 126 – Howie Hare 3rd, 138 – Ellis Carlson 3rd, 152 – Cole Hadaller 3rd, 182 – Josh Brown 5th.
Team scores (top 3): Edmonds Woodway 177.5, Ferndale 161, Marysville Pilchuck 160
In addition, three Warriors girls placed in the Pride of the Lady Lions Tournament at Lynden:
100 – Emily Hood 5th, 170 – Isatou Jatta 5th, 235 – Vatoria Keyes 3rd
And Second Varsity boys wrestlers placing at the Barry Knott Classic at Nathan Hale were: Emmanuel Boakye-Ansah 1st at 120, Reece LeCompte 2nd at 106, Angus Rate 4th at 120, Nahum Cortezzo 6th at 126, Thomas Christin-Eriksen 6th at 145, Luke Walker 4th at 195, Jonathan Cho 5th at 195, George Kartono 4th at 220.
