Edmonds Unitarian Church to host information meeting on ‘Villages’ Feb. 3

Learn more about the concept of Villages and how they help people age in place in their homes during a meeting at Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Church from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

According to a meeting announcement, “Villages” are grassroots, member-driven, nonprofit organizations that provide members with access to the services they need to age in their own homes and neighborhoods. Most Villages have volunteers and staff who provide services, offer referrals, and coordinate activities. Villages also provide community, through social events, interest groups, and outings. Research shows that the benefits of membership in a Village are numerous, and include positive impacts on health and wellness, interdependence, connectedness, and the pocketbook.

The speaker is Ellen Berg, a sociologist, teacher and member of Wider Horizons, one of three “Villages” in Seattle. Edmonds Unitarian Universalist Congregation is located at 8109 224th St. S.W. This event is free and open to the public.

“Villages” is not affiliated with EUUC or any other religious institution
