Edmonds-Woodway HS wins again at Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival

Edmonds-Woodway High School took home two more honors on Feb. 24 at the University of Idaho’s 2018 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.

The Edmonds-Woodway High School Jazz I Green Combo was selected as the High School Instrumental Combo Winner, and Kyle Bainbridge was named High School Instrumental Solo Winner for his performance on the alto saxophone.

The Green Combo and Bainbridge were hand-selected as winners by national adjudicators after outstanding performances earlier in the day. The combo performed on stage at the Saturday night evening concert, prior to the evening’s headliner Joey DeFrancesco + The People.

The festival, in its 51st year, features two days of student competitions, workshops and clinics on the University of Idaho campus. More than 4,127 students from 141 elementary, middle and high schools, as well as college and universities, are participating from around the region, including schools from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, Canada.
