Annually, the Edmonds Chamber Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) presents the event, which is managed by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
According to a chamber announcement, the Hazel Miller Foundation will continue as a long-term partner of “An Edmonds Kind of 4th” and serve as the title sponsor for the day’s activities. With over an 111-year tradition, “An Edmonds Kind of 4th” kicks off a summer full of family- and community-centered, chamber-sponsored activities that include Taste Edmonds (Aug. 10-12) and the Edmonds Classic Car Show (Sept. 9).
Hazel Miller and her husband, Morris, were long-time Edmonds residents with a love of Edmonds. The foundation grant, first awarded in 2012, earmarked funds to provide financial support for the day-long Fourth of July celebration. “An Edmonds Kind of 4th” features the Baby Brackett 1K, Beat Brackett 5K, Children’s Parade, Main Parade and evening entertainment and fireworks that draw more than 25,000 spectators.
“We hope that the generous support of the Hazel Miller Foundation serves to encourage the residents of Edmonds to help support this annual tradition in our community.” said Edmonds Chamber President and CEO Greg Urban. “Many people in the community don’t realize that the 4th of July celebration is privately funded by the Edmonds Chamber and Edmonds Chamber Foundation. No tax dollars are used; it is the business owners and private donations that ensure we have fireworks and parades each year in Edmonds.“
