  1. I have a sad piece of news. I was told that a kingfisher flew through a hole in the salmon pen at the marina and drowned.

    1. Such sad news, Bill. I took this photo last Saturday, 2/24. I’ve taken particular joy in watching our marina Kingfishers over the years. Do you have any idea how many visit the Marina? I sure hope that measures are taken to fix the salmon pen so this doesn’t happen again.

  2. I don’t know how many kingfishers visit the marina. I have been told that a pair of kingfishers will stake out a territory as their own and will chase off their own offspring after they have fledged.

  3. That is a lovely picture, but sad news followed. I think kingfishers are so beautiful and interesting. We used to see them when we went camping near rivers.
