The Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College, directed by Edmonds resident Larry Fuell, will present a program, “Nuclear Power: Waste Disposal and Accidents,” from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 at Shoreline CC’s Building 9000, Room 9208.

The speakers will be Dr. James Conca, senior scientist, UFA Ventures, Inc, and Reid Tanaka, senior consultant, Areion LLC

Conca and Tanaka are believers in nuclear power for generating energy. They argue that today’s nuclear power is cleaner (no carbon emission) and safer to use than ever before.

Conca has worked on the issue of nuclear waste for 30 years. Currently he is a senior scientist at UFA Ventures, Inc. in Richland, Wash. Tanaka is a retired U.S. Navy captain with 20 years of experience on nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers; he was a Navy liaison to the Japanese government after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The event is free with free parking. Register at shoreline.edu/GAC
