Update: Property on 196th featured in ‘Looking Back’ column now for sale

A latest look at work on the property — taken April 6, 2018.

A property on 196th Street Southwest just east of 76th Avenue West that was the subject of a recent “Looking Back” column for My Edmonds News is now for sale.

According to Paul Krauss, the City of Lynnwood’s Community Development Director, the building was “vacant and deteriorating” for several years, until a proposal to build a church was approved.

“As I recall, it was around two to four years ago that we processed and approved a proposal to build a Jehovah’s Witness Church on the site and the old building was removed,” he said. “However the Church never proceeded with the plans.”

Krauss said his staff has received multiple inquiries from potential developers, “so we understand that the land is again for sale.”

    1. Hi Maureen: A reader commented at the end of the earlier column that “the dirt is just temp storage from Edmonds CC area work.”

  1. There was a developer who bought it from the church and he decided that it was too much work to put in the dirt in order to bring it up to street level for code. So he sold it to the current developer who’s bringing in the dirt and is going to build Condominiums.
