Where are they now? 2013 Meadowdale grad leads sustainability effort at University of Puget Sound

Sage Haynes, a 2013 Meadowdale High School graduate, is now Sustainability and Energy Manager at the University of Puget Sound. Here, she is accepting a Tahoma Environmental Business Award from Tom Taylor.

Just in time for Earth Day, we received this announcement that Meadowdale High School grad Sage Haynes, class of 2013, is serving as the Sustainability and Energy Manager at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.

A 2017 University of Puget Sound graduate and biology major, Haynes worked in the UPS Sustainability Services department as a work/study student, and now manages the program.

She recently accepted on behalf of the school the 2018 Tahoma Business Environmental Award (TBEA) from the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber.

UPS was recognized for its commitment to the environment, as signified by its motto, “Loggers Live Green.” According to the university’s website, the phrase “encourages behavioral sustainability in all members of the campus community.”

The TBEA award is given to a forward-thinking organization dedicated to efficiency and environmental stewardship.

When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Haynes said: “Seeing how my small everyday actions can make a difference.”

We want to recognize the successes of graduates from our local high schools. If you have “Where are they now?” information, email it to myedmondsnews@gmail.com.

  1. Incredible young lady. Huge accomplishment, especially when considering environmental cutbacks are current obstacles. Way to go, Sage!
