Edmonds man arrested for vehicular assault after Lynnwood crash

An 18-year-old Edmonds man was arrested early Sunday morning on a vehicular assault charge after the car he was driving crashed into a cement barrier in Lynnwood, injuring a 19-year-old Lynnwood woman riding in his car.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the driver — suspected of being being impaired by drugs or alcohol — exited southbound I-5 at the 44th Street Southwest park-and-ride  around 3:30 a.m. The man, who was driving a 2013 Mercedes Benz sedan, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a concrete barrier, the patrol said.

Both the driver and passenger were injured in the crash, and were transported to Providence Hospital. The driver was later booked into Snohomish County Jail.
