Prep sports roundup: E-W soccer comes from behind to beat Scots, Mav tennis tops Royals

The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors ran their girls soccer winning streak to five on Thursday with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Shorecrest Scots in a Wesco League match played at Edmonds Stadium.

The Warriors scored all three of their goals in the second half after the Scots had built a 2-0 lead.

After Shorecrest got its second goal, the Warriors went to work.  The Scots committed a foul in their goal box about half way through the second half and gave E-W a penalty kick that Michaela Danyo was able to put into the back of the net.
Danyo was able to get another goal about 10 minutes after her first goal to tie the game. With eight minutes left, AJ Martineau sent a ball up to Kyra Hicks, who scored the go-ahead goal.

In Wesco League girls soccer action on Thursday, the Meadowdale Mavericks were blanked 2-0 by the Shorewood Thunderbirds at Shoreline Stadium.

On the tennis courts, the Mavs defeated the Royals 6-1 in Wesco League boys soccer action at Meadowdale High School.

Meadowdale swept six of the seven matches in straight sets while Lynnwood’s only victory was a close win by Renzo Gonzalez over the Mavs’ Andy Kellam in the No. 4 singles match.

At the Lynnwood Pool, the Mavs picked up three individual race wins (Jersey Razzano in the 100 Yard Backstroke and the 200 Yard Freestyle, and Grace Morgan in the 500 Meter Freestyle) but it wasn’t enough for a team victory; the Shorecrest Scots got past Meadowdale 108-62 to pick up the road win.
