Scene in Edmonds: A picture-perfect Edmonds Halloween

The night was balmy but just cool enough to be comfortable under several layers of costume as kids of all ages packed the streets with colorful regalia to fill downtown Edmonds with the sounds and spirit of Halloween.

As luck would have it, the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce-sponsored celebration coincided with a visit by the 20-member Sister City Delegation from Hekinan, Japan.  Halloween is not traditionally celebrated in Japan, but interest has picked up in recent years fueled by the growing popularity among young people of cosplay (dressing in costume).

While the Halloween holiday remains a decidedly more subdued affair than here, you’d never know it judging from our delegation. They threw themselves into the festivities with great gusto, wearing costumes, dancing and reveling right along with downtown partyers.

And the predicted rain? Not a drop.

  1. Great story! Just a quick note, the i is missing from the word while and the h is missing from the word holiday in this sentence, “Whle the Halloween oliday remains a decidedly more subdued affair than here, you’d never know it judging from our delegation. “
