Edmonds man arrested after crashing into power pole in Lynnwood

An Edmonds man was arrested Sunday night after he crashed into a power pole following an attempted traffic stop by Lynnwood police, causing nearby residents to lose power overnight.

According to Lynnwood Police spokesman Sgt. Sean Doty, the man — described as in his 20s — tried to elude police during a traffic stop around 8 p.m. Sunday. The officer did not pursue, Doty said, but the suspect lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a power pole on 188th Street Southwest near the Lynnwood Fire Station, at 44th Avenue West.

The man fled on foot but a police K9 unit was able to successfully track the suspect and arrest him, Doty said.

Power was out from about 1 to 6 a.m., and it impacted about 200 customers, said Snohomish County PUD spokesman Neil Neroutsos.
