Reminder: Enjoy holiday traditions Saturday, Nov. 24 with Holiday Dash 5K, tree lighting

Downtown Edmonds rolls out the holiday red carpet this Saturday, Nov. 24, with a day of fun-filled activities for the whole family.

The adventure starts with the Edmonds Police Foundation’s annual Holiday 5K run/walk. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m., starting and ending at the Edmonds Boys & Girls Club 310 6th Ave. N. Festive running attire encouraged and well-behaved and leashed dogs are welcome too. Learn more and register here.

And if you want to take care of some holiday shopping, all day local merchants will be celebrating Small Business Saturday festivities with a bevy of treats and surprises.

The holiday fun begins in earnest a 3 p.m., as you can enjoy free refreshments at Centennial Plaza (5th and Bell) with the annual Edmonds Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Tree Lighting beginning at 4 p.m. There will be musical entertainment, a visit from Santa on a fire truck, and the countdown to the tree lighting itself.

From 5:30 to 7 p.m., follow Santa to the Edmonds Masonic Hall, 515 Dayton, for photographs.

You are also encouraged to support these groups at the Tree Lighting:
• Bring food donations for the Nourishing Network & Edmonds Food Bank
• Bring children’s clothing (socks, jackets, etc..) for Clothes for Kids
