Holy Rosary’s Lego robotic team advances to semifinals in state competition

Holy Rosary School’s “Taco Katz” First Robotics Lego League team won the Champion’s Award on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Everett Qualifier.

Of 37 teams, the judges felt that Team “Taco Katz” showed excellence in all of the three categories: Core Values, Robot Design and Project. This year’s long-duration space travel challenge guided their research to a spherical laundry solution.
The team will be advancing to the semifinals in January 2019. Only the top 25 percent of 600-plus Western Washington teams are invited to compete for a slot at the state championship in February.
This is the second year in a row that Holy Rosary School is sending a team to the semifinals. Taco Katz team members are Nathan Morris, Cullen O’Connor, Lily Wiemken, Ashley Rice, Madden Heine, Coaches Holly and Greg O’Connor and Mentor Rory O’Connor.
