Prep sports roundup: Defeats for Maverick girls basketball, boys swim Tuesday

The Meadowdale Lady Mavericks were able to stay close to the Arlington Eagles during the first three quarters of their Wesco League girls basketball contest on Tuesday before the Eagles took flight late and raced away; Arlington defeated the Mavs 52-36 in the game played at Arlington High School.

The Eagles outscored Meadowdale 19-8 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Arlington’s Sierra Scheppele scored a game-high 19 points in the game; teammate Josie Stupey contributed 12 points in the win. Lilly Williams led the Mavs in scoring with 10 points.

Elsewhere, the Meadowdale boys swim team couldn’t keep up with the Shorecrest Scots on Tuesday as the Scots scored a 135-40 win at the Shoreline Pool.
