Melinda “Mindy” Woods is the newest member of the City of Edmonds Diversity Commission, appointed Tuesday night by the Edmonds City Council.

She fills a vacancy created by the resignation of commission member Diana White.
Woods said she wanted to join the Diversity Commission “to bring attention to economic diversity. There are many lower-income people in Edmonds, and many of those are below the poverty line.”
“Housing instability in this city is at an all-time high,” Woods added. “I have experienced it first-hand with my son right here in Edmonds for eight months.”
Woods is a Navy veteran, a single mother and a descendant of the Lummi people. “I look forward to bringing my passion and experience to the commission and helping to create a more inclusive and welcoming city for all,” she said.
