Warriors basketball roundup: Losses for boys, girls vs. Marysville-Getchell

The hot-and-cold Edmonds-Woodway Warriors ended up losing to the Marysville-Getchell Chargers 63-48 in a Wesco League contest Friday at Marysville-Getchell High School.

The Warriors started the game ice cold, scoring just four points in the first quarter, but then heated up for 25 in the second eight minutes. E-W cooled down after halftime and got outscored 29-19 to take the loss.

Mutdung Bol had 13 points for E-W after having a hot hand in his previous game, scoring 38 points on Jan. 9. Nikko McNeal contributed 12 points in the loss on Friday.

The hottest player in the gym Friday was the Chargers’ Malkhi Knight; the sophomore point guard scored a game-high 30 points. Sophomore Josiah Koellmer added 11 points for M-G.

In other E-W sports on Friday, the Lady Warriors suffered a second-half collapse, falling to the Marysville-Getchell Chargers 47-41 at Edmonds-Woodway High School.

The E-W girls led at halftime 28-19 but scored just 13 second-half points to record their third loss in a row.
