Starting Feb. 12 and through the month of February, Pilates Edmonds is offering a 30-minute, donation-based Standing Pilates class on Tuesdays at 10:45 a.m. — with proceeds benefitting StandUpKids — a nonprofit working to get every public school child at a standing desk in 10 years.
According to teacher Cristin Fenzel, the Standing Pilates workout “will use the Fletcher Pilates braided towel to open your chest and bring a lift to your entire body. By using the towel as an extension of your body, you will release your shoulders and improve spinal mobility.”

StandUpKids provides education on the health risks associated with sedentary lifestyles and resources on why standing desks create an environment where children can become healthier and more active.

  1. They need to put PE and activities back in schools again. Standing is almost as bad as sitting; it is movement that is missing from most of their lives. Moving for an hour a day is not the same as moving during the entire day.
