Prep girls basketball: Warriors move on to regionals with 58-47 win over Ferndale

After the early 11 a.m. tipoff, it was the Edmonds-Woodway Lady Warriors who were the early risers in their district tournament matchup with the Ferndale Golden Eagles on Saturday.

E-W jumped out to an 18-5 lead after the first quarter and went on to a 58-47 victory over the Golden Eagles in a District 1 3A Girls Basketball Tournament winner-to-regionals/state loser-out game played at Everett Community College.

With the win, the Warriors will move on to the regional round of the 3A state tourney with a game on either Friday, Feb. 22 or Saturday, Feb. 23 against an opponent to be determined.

Rebekah Dasalla-Good led the No. 5 district tourney seed Lady Warriors with 20 points in their win over Ferndale; Adrienne Poling added 10 points for E-W.

Nicole Guessford scored 12 points for the No. 6-seeded Golden Eagles.

Seeding, matchups and schedules for the upcoming girls basketball regional playoff weekend and state tournament won’t be announced until Tuesday, Feb. 19 at the earliest as some district tournaments around the state won’t be completed until Monday.
