Congratulations to two high school vocal groups — Edmonds-Woodway’s Mello-Aires and Meadowdale’s Impressions — who have been recognized by Downbeat Magazine.
The Mello-Aires won the Student Award for Best Large Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Student Rodney Ocfemia was recognized as an Outstanding Soloist for vocal and bass on “Tutti For Cootie.” The ensemble tied with Valencia High School in California.
Impressions was honored for Outstanding Performance, and student Katie Dreessen was recognized as an Outstanding Soloist on “Secret Love.”
