The Meadowdale Mavericks baseball and softball teams grabbed dramatic wins on Tuesday in Wesco League action.

The Mavs’ Mason Vaughn hit a game-winning sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Meadowdale a 7-6 victory over the visiting Shorecrest Scots at Meadowdale High School. Vaughn’s heroics came after the Mavs had tied the game and sent it to extra innings with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Lady Mavs’ softball squad handed the Everett Seagulls their first league loss of the season with a 5-1 win at Lincoln Field in Everett.

Kate Houghton yielded just one earned run on two hits and struck out 17 to pick up the mound victory for Meadowdale.

In other Meadowdale sports on Tuesday, the Mavs’ girls tennis team suffered just their second setback of the year with a 6-1 loss to the Shorewood Thunderbirds.
